How it all started...
Providence Church of Houston was founded in 1990. Rev. Willie Ted Glynn was the founding pastor. In 1991, Pastor Jerry Wade, Sr. was called as pastor. Providence moved to our current location June 1991. Pastor Wade instituted a number of new ministries including the youth ministry which was the catalyst for our growth. The church grew in number from 12 charter members to over 150 members. In 1998 Providence Church was renovated. Providence continued to grow and add ministries. in 2007 we built our current sanctuary adjacent to our original sanctuary. Our former sanctuary was renovated into a fellowship hall and class room space.

Expanding the vision...
This year we are jumpstarting all of our ministries as well as upgrading our media and technical ministries. We are also building a portable stage for our Outreach Ministry to travel the streets of Houston and spread the Word of God and the full Worship experience to our surrounding neighborhoods. We have recently renovated and expanded our fellowship hall to include "Holy Grounds" Providence Church's new coffee bar and "The 411 @ 111" our new bookstore.
Where we are headed...
Providence Church of Houston's mission has always been the "Great Commission". We will continue to expand the reach of God's Word in our community, city, state, nation, and beyond. A major concern of Providence Church is the young people of this generation. Our Pastor often says, "When we die out, where will the church be?" Therefore, our mission to reach the unchurched and unsaved youth is paramount. Our story has just begun.
